Anyone else agree that the Perth music scene is getting increasingly more depressing?
I just read that Monuments have been signed up to play at Soundwave 2015. Normally, this would greatly excite me, they’re a great band, and I really enjoyed their last album. But, as I’m sure you’re aware, Soundwave isn’t coming to Perth anymore. Neither is Big Day Out. Neither are most of the big music festivals. Just canned.
Why? Those of us who frequent places like Amplifier and HQ know that it’s not due to lack of enthusiasm. We love live music. We love the atmosphere, we love the ear-splitting deep tones, and we love the company of fellow music lovers. So why did the organisers of the festivals say that they’re isn’t enough interest to warrant bringing them back to Perth?
Props to all the bands that still try to make it big in this city. We’re with you all the way.
